Over the last year or so, the tech zeitgeist has been all about coexistence – between CIOs and CMOs, and between IT organizations and departments.

What is bimodal IT?
Here’s Gartner’s definition: “Bimodal IT refers to having two modes of IT, each designed to develop and deliver information- and technology-intensive services in its own way. Mode 1 is traditional, emphasizing scalability, efficiency, safety and accuracy. Mode 2 is nonsequential, emphasizing agility and speed.”
To put it another way, “Type 1 is traditional IT, focused on stability and efficiency, while Type 2 is an experimental, agile organization focused on time-to-market, rapid application evolution, and, in particular, tight alignment with business units.”
Analytics in the bimodal enterprise
Whatever definition works best for you, when it comes to delivering world-class business intelligence (BI) analytics with a bimodal approach, the challenge is clear: accurate insights can only be derived from data that is clean and complete.
